Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse
The Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management for individuals with mental and behavioral health needs. The role works closely with the multidisciplinary team to support coordinated care that addresses both physical and mental health needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Complete psychiatric evaluations and identify health conditions that may affect a client's mental health.
• Develop and update integrated medical and psychiatric treatment plans.
• Prescribe psychiatric medications, monitor response and side effects, and adjust treatment when clinically appropriate.
• Collaborate with therapists, psychologists, case managers, and other providers to coordinate care.
• Participate in treatment planning meetings and case conferences.
• Provide medication education to clients and families, including expected benefits and possible side effects.
• Provide timely clinical support during crises and document all services accurately in the electronic health record.
• Maintain current knowledge of psychiatric treatment, medications, and professional standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Psychiatrist: MD or DO from an accredited medical school, board certified or board eligible in psychiatry.
• Psychiatric Nurse: Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or APRN with national certification in psychiatric-mental health.
• Active Florida license in good standing and DEA registration for prescribing.
• Experience serving individuals with mental or behavioral health needs.
• Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications and integrated care practices.
• Clear communication, sound clinical judgment, compassion, and proficiency with electronic health records.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
